What is Life Coaching?Everyone has heard of a coach in the sports sense, in which coach works with an athlete to help them to perform their best and achieve the team’s goal to win the game. Similarly, a life coach helps his or her clients to work toward performing at their best and achieve their goals in life! Life coaching is the process of motivating clients toward their long and short term goals. Life coaching can help a client in every aspect of his or her life.
Unlike sports coaching or business consultancy, which focuses on one specific aspect, life coaching is holistic. In addition, life coaching is not the same as mentoring or consulting because life coaching is not about the coach’s expertise, advice or solutions. Instead, it is about the coach’s knowledge of the coaching process. And finally, life coaching is not the same as counseling or therapy, which focuses on the client’s past and mental or emotional problems. In contrast, life coaching focuses on the future and solutions. The main role of the life coach is to enable and empower the client. The life coach closes the gap between thinking about doing something and actually moving toward action. The coach’s job is to help clients articulate their dreams, and aspirations. The coach will help the client to clarify their mission, purpose, and goals in order to help them to achieve that outcome.
